| Newsletter December 08 As we bid a sorrowful farewell to the sun...we do welcome the much needed rain! As we embark on winter we are left with the agonizing debate...climb outdoors in wind, rain and cold...or climb indoors, where it is dry and warm. Come inside...we have many new and challenging routes. Come climb "PROJECT..." a yellow tape boulder problem on our 45 degree overhanging comp wall. Who knows...we may have to start a "Wall of Fame". While you are here perhaps you will see our Head Route Setter Jeff "MAD DOG" Schaffer hanging around. Jeff works diligently to keep our routes challenging and up to date. Thank-you Jeff for taking on the task of keeping everyone climbing, or at least trying! ROCKZILLA STAFF WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A SAFE DESCENT INTO THE NEW YEAR! Keep climbing...and HEY! Bring a friend will Ya! We are open Monday through Saturday 10am to 10 pm and Sunday 10am to 6 pm. (Even Most Holidays) ROCKZILLA is located at 849 Jackson St #5A in Napa California. From CA29 take Lincoln to a right turn onto Yajome then take a left on Jackson and look for the entrance on the right (near PB+J). March 2009 Spring has Sprung....and so has unpredictable weather. It's Sunny and mild, it's rainy and cold, it's hailing, its windy....oh look, It's sunny again. Well, at least the weather inside Rockzilla is a little more controlled. Perfectly predictable for climbing. We would like to welcome back veteran setter Steve Rosenfield. Come check out one of fourteen....yes, I said fourteen, new boulder problems. Steve recommends the blue V4 in the cave. It's so steep and powerful that it will make you feel like Spiderman. Are you up to a challenge? If so, come down to Rockzilla and check out our newest addition to our comp lead wall. So far, no one has been able to send this enduring, pumpy, sustained climb. It is a combination of big moves, big slopers, big pinches, hard lock-offs, tough crossovers and a few little crimpers to keep you on your toes. The route is marked with dark blue tape and has been named "5. Project...." If you are able to climb this route, mark your name on the finish hold tape with a sharpie and get a free climbing video... "Set In Stone." Good luck! |
